A Visit from Patrick Hunt - Horticulturist

Patrick Hunt came to our school and told us many interesting facts about nature and gardening. We also explored the variety of flora and fauna in the locality. He showed us how to plant seeds and explained to us the importance of moving around plants to different plant beds so the insects wouldn’t find them so easily. He told us that there are many living things in only one handful of soil. There are millions. He took us out to the gardens and showed us how to identify weeds from plants. We prepared the flower beds for planting seeds by pulling weeds up and taking the old leaves away. At the end of our experience we planted some daffodil seeds into the lovely flower beds and we look forward to him returning to see our progress.
