Maura Byrne is an amazing lady. She came to our class today, Wednesday 8/10/14.

She has written three books about a girl called Bridget who is a werewolf but does not want to be. They are absolutely amazing. She came to our classroom because it was raining too heavily to walk to the library. We were very sad. But then Mrs Wyley came and said that Maura was coming to our classroom. We were very happy. I really want to read all her books. Mr Walsh is reading her first book, ‘Bridget in Werewolf Rehab’. Maura was the first person to bring Barney the Dinosaur to Ireland. The writing bug attacked her a few years ago. She has written two more books. She taught us how to make a story in nine steps. When I grow up I want to be as kind and talented as her. But I suppose practice makes perfect. She has been writing since she was nine. What a remarkable lady.

This review is about when Maura Byrne came to our classroom and what she said, enjoy.

When she arrived to the school we were so excited. Maura said that her latest book was ‘Bridget in werewolf Rehab’. In her story she explains a lot of scenes very well. Maura said that her dog Barney likes to wet the wall in the kitchen and in her story a boy called Andrew likes to do the same thing too. Bridget in Werewolf Rehab has two books. One has about 5000 more words and a different ending. Maura Byrnes favourite childhood book was ‘The lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’. Some of the characters in her story are named after her friends.

Blurb for Bridget in Werewolf Rehab.

This story is about a girl called Bridget goes to a school to learn about being a werewolf. At first Bridget does not want to be a werewolf. Suspicious things happen and Bridget finds out a lot of crazy things but what are they and will she change her mind about not being a werewolf`?

When Maura grew up she ran large exhibitions for children and was the first person to bring Barney the dinosaur to Ireland. The writing bug attacked Maura a few years ago and she started writing again. Maura has wrote two more books.

Today an author called Maura Byrne came into our class. We were meant to go to the library but here’s how it got changed to the classroom.

So there we were waiting to go out covered in hats and coats. But then Mr. Walsh said that it was too rainy so we went back and took off our hats and coats and sat down while Mr. Walsh called the library. Maura Byrne came down and talked to us in the classroom. It was really interesting to learn about her and her book (Bridget in werewolf rehab). Her favourite childhood book was “The lion the witch and the wardrobe”. When she grew up, Maura ran large exhibitions for children and was the first person to bring Barney the dinosaur to Ireland. I loved Maura’s visit it was fun. I was disappointed that we didn’t get to the library but it was really fun in the classroom so Mr. Walsh said that we can go to the library another day. Maura signed our copies and the day was really fun!

If you’re into werewolves, fantasy, life stories and of course reading then this is the book for you.

Whether you're a boy or a girl Maura Byrne is sure to have something in store for you. I spent 45 minutes with this wonderful writer and I was blown away. Bridget in werewolf rehab can be found in many book shops and will probably be in the best sellers. Even when disaster struck and we couldn’t go to Stillorgan because of all the rain, never mind that super Maura was able to come to us! Maura has been writing from the age of nine and still has the writing bug attack. Some people in the book are based on people in real life. Andrew a character in werewolf rehab is based on her dog Barney who likes to pee on the walls. Maura entered Disney to try and make a movie out of it but Disney said no (unfortunately). Still Maura Byrne is a natural.

Maura Byrne came to my school. You see we were supposed to go to the Stillorgan Library but she was so kind to come here.

In school Mr. Walsh read some of her first book Bridget in Werewolf Rehab. I have to say it is one of the best books I have ever read. It was so creative the way she had such unusual characters. We have not found out who the villain is and I can’t wait to find out! We started with asking questions and she was nice and tried to ask everybody then she drew out a plan that all most every book goes by! The book that inspired her was The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. She is probably the best talented author I have ever heard of!

Today in class Maura Byrne came to talk about her books. Found it very interesting.

I learned how to make a story very interesting and good. We were meant to go to Stillorgan library to see her but the weather was too bad to walk in. So she came to our classroom. Her favourite book was The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. She talked about a lot of things and that she has two versions of her book Bridget in werewolf rehab one of the books has five thousand more words than the other one. We have only read four chapters of her first book but it is really good so far. I would recommend that you get all of her books
