In Scoil San Treasa we are a very active school. Our school has a very comprehensive PE (Physical Education) Programme.
We incorporate the strands of the Primary Curriculum – Games, Dance, Gymnastics, Athletics, and Outdoor and Adventure. The curriculum contributes to children’s overall development by helping them to lead full, active and healthy lives.
The school is very fortunate to have coaches providing the PE Curriculum alongside the teachers here in Scoil San Treasa.
There are school teams in Hurling, Camogie, Football & Ladies Football, training weekly and competing in matches. Additionally, the Parents' Association organise the Hockey for 4th, 5th and 6th Class girls, and 6th class Tennis leagues.
Some of the sports and activities that the children in Scoil San Treasa are involved in include:
GAA: Coaching and training in sports such as football, hurling, camogie take place after school in preparation for competitions and blitzes throughout the year. We are also closely linked with Kilmacud Crokes and the children in Senior Infants participate in hurling/camogie training with coaches from KC.
Basketball: The children in Sixth Class participate in the Dublin Primary Schools Mini-Basketball League and play in the National Basketball Arena each year.
Athletics: Children from Fourth to Sixth Classes participate in Santry every year.
Irish Dancing: The children prepare each year for our annual Céilí na bPáistí as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge.
Tennis: Children from Infants to Sixth Class participate in tennis lessons through the week.
Golf: Pupils in sixth class have been taking part in a golf programme organised by parents, they take part in the Castle Cup Competition annually.
