Keeping Childhood Smartphone Free
This is the fourth year of the Keeping Childhood Smartphone Free initiative at Scoil San Treasa. Over the past three years, the Parents’ Association has worked with families and the wider school community to support our children in having a childhood that is less dependent on smartphones and social media.
Last year, we were delighted that 97% of families signed up to our No Smartphone Code. This was a fantastic demonstration of the strength of our school community and our shared commitment to supporting our children.
For 2026, we are asking families to renew their commitment to the No Smartphone Code. Sign-up will take place through Aladdin, making it simple and accessible for all families.
The Code is completely voluntary and flexible. It is a commitment made by parents and guardians not to purchase or allow their child to have access to a smartphone during their time in primary school.
We strongly encourage all families to sign up. By making this commitment together, we can help create a consistent environment for our children and support them in enjoying childhood without the pressures and challenges that can come with early smartphone and social media use.
The Parents’ Association continues to follow the guidance and principles outlined in the Department of Education’s Keeping Childhood Smartphone Free initiative.
Please take a few minutes to read the No Smartphone Code in full and consider signing up through Aladdin.
Together, as a school community, we can continue to make a positive difference to our children’s digital wellbeing and help keep childhood smartphone free.
