The feast of St. Therese is on October 1st .We had a big celebration this year because our school was 50 years old. We went to the church and had a special mass for the 50th anniversary. The choir sang beautifully and the orchestra played brilliantly. Lots of people attended the mass and did some readings. There was an entrance procession and children and adults brought up symbols of life in Scoil San Treasa. At the end of the Mass everybody got a rose. The rose is symbol of St. Therese – the little flower. There are 30 roses painted on the ceiling of the church too. This is to remind us that St. Therese died on the 30th of September.

St. Therese said  ……..

“When I die, I will send down a shower of roses from the heavens,

The next day we had a birthday party for our school in the hall. There was a cake, 50 candles and balloons. We sang ‘Happy Birthday’ and 3 children from each class lit a candle. We had a small party in our classrooms – we got a drink, a bar and a slice of the birthday cake. The best part of it all was that we got no homework ! I’m looking forward to the next 50th which will be the 100th anniversary of our school. I will be 60 then!
