This year Ms Conroy’s 6th Class performed Matilda Revamped to approximately 500 people over the course of two days. Among the guests in attendance were 25 teachers from North Carolina, America who were visiting Scoil San Treasa. They left our school in awe of the cast’s American accents inquisitively curious as to how they got them so accurate while admitting; it was ‘weird’ to hear their own accent in a school in Ireland!

Matilda Revamped starred 27 actors and actresses, who gave much dedication to their character. From the young kind Matilda, to her self-obsessed teacher Miss Honey, to the obnoxious loud principal Miss Trunchbowel (pronounced with a Silent E which she continuously with a spine-chilling scream, reminded her pupils!!!) to all of the performers, each was a consummate professional.

With many humorous one-liners, outstanding acting and hits from ABBA, Gloria Gaynor and Franki Valli & The Four Seasons, in conjunction with the group performance of Revolting Children this was one show not to miss!

Our show was based on Matilda, the childhood novel by Roald Dahl but that’s where the comparisons end. Matilda Revamped told the story of an extraordinary group of children led by Matilda who took a stand and tried to change the course of their destiny.

Matilda suffered from a lack of parental love for most of her life and so along with her peers saw the opportunity of participating in the annual 6th graders English Competition as perhaps offering her a one-way ticket out of home.

However their teacher Miss Honey was more interested in her own life, materialistic priorities and working for ‘holidays’ than that of her ‘revolting’ students. Nevertheless, before SCHOOL was OUT! were they able to succeed in showing another side of Miss Honey???

‘Matilda is more than a show,
