The sixth class play, 'Matilda', was greatly enjoyed last week. Have a read of the review below, written by one of our pupils:
On the 16th of May 2019 I went to the showing of Mr. Cadigan’s sixth class play, Matilda. It was being shown to us in the school hall, which had been arranged with rows of chairs for the parents.
The beginning of the play was very captivating, starting with the song “When I grow up”. The singers were very confident and were loud and clear with the lyrics. The other children in the background playing was a very nice touch. The rest of the class were very quiet backstage during the song as well.
The first half of the play showed great acting skills, with some more wonderful songs peppered in. The costumes were incredible and really suited each character. The reactions of the children during the classroom scenes made it all the more believable.
The second half brought a wonderful conclusion to the play, with a great ending and some more marvellous songs. The ending was heartfelt, and the acting really made the scene come to life.
Some great characters to look out for are the Wormwoods, with the Trunchbulls showing great enthusiasm towards their role as well. Rudolpho, Mrs. Wormwood’s Italian dance partner, earned quite a few laughs from the audience with his antics.
The songs, including “Revolting”, “When I grow up”, “Naughty” and “My House” were all sung with feeling and heart, and the lyrics were clear and easy to understand.
All in all, this was an extremely enjoyable experience for me, and I would gladly see it again.
