The Annual Southside Primary Schools Hurling Tournament took place in March this year in Marley Park.

Once again it comprised of four schools-St.Mary’s Rathfarnham, St.Pius Templeogue, St.Joseph’s Terenure and Scoil San Treasa, Mount Merrion.

Day 1 of the blitz saw a round robin of fixtures where each team played each other over 20 minute games. Luckily the weather was on our side and the boys enjoyed the competitive edge to the games.

Day 2 saw the top two teams play each other in the cup final and the bottom teams play in the shield final. St.Pius were shield winners beating St.Josephs, Terenure while Scoil San Treasa won the cup having defeated St. Mary’s Rathfranham.

The venture proved to be very successful and was excellent preparation for the upcoming Cumann na mBunscoil Competitions, where each team will be aiming to get to a Croke Park Final. Over the course of the blitz a huge improvement was seen in the skills, teamwork and confidence of the players. It was fitting that Cumann na mbunscoil chairman Edward O’ Riordan addressed the large crowd following the presentation of trophies.
