It has been a busy time for all our avid readers in Scoil San Treasa. On Thursday, 25th February we participated in a new national day to celebrate reading - Ireland Reads. Children across the school joined this new initiative by taking a break from online learning and sitting down to read some of their favourite books. In total, over 12,000 minutes of reading were recorded across the school - that is more than 8 days of non-stop reading! On Thursday 4th March we celebrated World Book Day, reminding us to enjoy the simple pleasure of books and reading.

Some of the children in First Class wrote about their favourite books for World Book Day –

My favourite book is called Code Name Bananas. It’s about a boy who helps a gorilla escape from a zoo, where the vet does not help the animals and his uncle Sid, who has tin legs helps him.

Mickey and the Animal Spies is my favourite book. It is a good book about a girl who loves cracking codes. One day on the school bus she saw a code she needed to crack. When she got home that day she tries hard to work out the code. Does she succeed?...
