The much-anticipated ‘Novelty Day’ fundraising event took place on Thursday 4th December in the school hall. The theme of Novelty Day was ‘children helping children’. In previous years, and the 6th classes, together with their teachers, nominated Operation Smile, LauraLynn, and Aoibheann’s Pink Tie as the beneficiaries of all funds raised.
For those new to Scoil San Treasa, Novelty Day consisted of 6th class pupils organising a variety of jumble sales, cake sales, fun activities, and raffles for all children in the school. On the day, pupils were asked to bring a shopping bag and a few euro to contribute to the event. Children were also invited to bake buns, cakes, or biscuits, which were donated and sold.
Toys, books, and baked goods were available to purchase, while the 6th class pupils set up stalls and organised fun activities in the school hall. All classes were timetabled to attend throughout the day. A raffle for parents also took place, with tickets available for purchase in the school foyer.
We would like to thank pupils, staff, parents, and the wider community for their continued support of this initiative. Local businesses and parents were especially generous in donating prizes, and all support and goodwill were greatly appreciated. Well done to the 6th class pupils and their teachers for making Novelty Day a phenomenal success.
