In 5th class we are learning about a real-life crisis people are facing in Gergera, Ethiopia. We read about a boy called Berihun's experience with famine, drought and flash floods. We brainstormed how the people in Gergera might overcome these issues and came up with some interesting solutions of our own!

Then we looked at how Irish Aid offered their solutions to the region's government and people. They brought bee hives so they could sell honey at local markets, provided the people with essential skills such as farming and taught them how to manage their land during floods. Irish Aid continue to support this region in Ethiopia and many other countries in Africa.
